Nickent Celebrates Homecoming with # 1 Hybrid and 6 Top 10’s

September 21, 2005

At the event marking the one-year anniversary of taking over the # 1 hybrid position on the Nationwide Tour, Nickent Golf celebrated in style with yet another # 1 hybrid ranking and six out of the Top 10 finishers using their 3DX Ironwood.

The event was the Mark Christopher Charity Classic in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, an event that Nickent refers to as its homecoming event due to the close proximity of the event to the Nickent headquarters and the fact that the 3DX began its rise to fame at the tournament.

In the year since the 3DX hybrid first defeated a giant manufacturer for the hybrid title, the 3DX has earned 54 Top 10 finishes in only 36 events. The 3DX has also earned the # 1 ranking in over half the events in that time period. Nickent beat the # 2 ranking hybrid this week by 11 golf clubs.

"It’s always great when the Nationwide Tour comes to Rancho," said Nickent Director of Marketing Jon Claffey. "We got to go down and personally thank a large majority of the 100 players that are playing the 3DX this season. They ended up thanking us in return when six of the guys placed in the Top 10. We’ve had players finish in the Top 5 in every event the last 6 weeks on Tour and this is the most important time of the year to perform."

With only five events remaining before the season-ending Nationwide Tour Championship, players are grinding to make it into the Top 20 of the money list in order to graduate to the PGA Tour. Ten players in the Top 35 are currently playing the 3DX, including numbers 9, 11, 12 and 13.

"When we claimed the King of Hybrids title last year at this event, we knew we would have a fight on our hands to maintain it," said Claffey. "We knew we had a superior product and we just hoped that technology would shine through over endorsement contracts and the like. This is our first full year on the Nationwide Tour and it has been a great honor to come out here and help so many players achieve their goals. In the end, that’s the biggest reason why we are out here; to prove that we can take your game to the next level."
