ORLANDO, Fla. (September 28, 2005) – Megan West has spent her life around golf, and the Pennsylvania native continues a lifetime commitment to the game as the newest member of The Golf Channel’s on-air staff.
West’s impressive resume includes eight years of on-air television work as a sports anchor and reporter, and host of weekly sports magazine shows. When she wasn’t working in front of the camera, local sports fans could also find her on the radio dial, co-hosting daily sports radio programming. Golf Channel viewers will find West anchoring Golf Central, as well as hosting Bank of America Leaderboard Report, Golf Central tournament updates and reporting on-site from selected events.
"Megan’s love of the game and versatility will make her a valuable contributor to our on-air staff," said Golf Channel’s Executive Producer Tony Tortorici.
A high school golfer who grew up on and around her father’s golf course, it seems only natural that West’s love of sports and passion for broadcasting would lead her to join the staff of The Golf Channel.
A graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, West’s career started as a sports intern with CNN Sports Illustrated. She moved on to Pittsburgh, Penn., where she served as sports intern/production assistant at FOX Sports Pittsburgh, helping produce shows such as High School Extra and Sportsbeat.
Her on-air debut came in Salisbury, Md., where she joined the WBOC CBS 16 as sports team as a sports reporter/anchor, contributing to the station’s Associated Press Outstanding Overall Sports awards in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
Her next career stop was in Toledo, Ohio, where she pulled double duty as sports anchor/reporter for WNWO NBC 24. She produced and anchored sportscasts, reported live from the field and co-hosted Friday Night Frenzy. She also worked as afternoon co-host of WLQR 1470 Sports Radio’s The Front Row show.
West’s rising popularity led her to Salt Lake City, where she joined the KSTU FOX 13 sports team as a sports anchor/reporter, anchoring sportscasts, reporting live from the field and co-hosting The FOX 13 Sports Page. She also found time to co-host KFAN 1320’s The Starting Lineup sports radio show, and even added voice-over credits to her resume when she narrated highlight and recruiting videos for the University of Utah football team.
The summer of 2005 has been a season of personal highlights for West, as the newest member of The Golf Channel’s on-air staff walked down the aisle in July, marrying University of Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen.
