PGA Village Verano and the Cresswind Neighborhood Announce the Groundbreaking of Largest Private Pickleball Center in South Florida
27 Court Pickleball Facility Coming to Port St. Lucie
KOLTER HOMES – a leader in developing next-generation, highly-amenitized, master-planned active adult communities in the Southeastern U.S. – will break ground on the PGA Village Verano Pickleball Center in early January 2019, giving both the community and the new Cresswind neighborhood access to South Florida’s largest private pickleball complex.
At completion, the 5 acre outdoor facility will include a total of 27 pickleball courts including a championship-court for tournaments, multiple viewing areas, covered seating and an event lawn with pavilion area. Construction is estimated to take six months, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled for Summer 2019. Kolter officials estimate this will be the largest private pickleball center in South Florida.
The facility will be located near Cresswind at PGA Village Verano, a 55+ gated active adult neighborhood in the premier PGA Village area of Port St. Lucie, Florida. Residents of Cresswind at PGA Village Verano as well as the larger resort style community PGA Village Verano will have exclusive access to the courts.
“Pickleball has quickly grown to be a very popular activity at our other Cresswind properties. For PGA Village Verano and our new Cresswind neighborhood, we wanted to ensure that our residents had dedicated courts to enjoy the sport,” says John Manrique, Vice President of Marketing for KOLTER HOMES. “We are also considering opportunities to use this new Pickleball Center for tournaments and other fun events our residents and community will enjoy.”
A mix between badminton, tennis and table tennis, pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America, seeing an increase of 12% in participants from 2016 to 2017. The sport is especially popular with individuals 55 and older due to the quick learning curve and low-impact nature of the game. Of the 2.8 million people nationally that play, 75% of core participants fall within this age demographic.
Cresswind at PGA Village Verano is a gated, 55+ active adult neighborhood within the gated community of PGA Village Verano offering resident-exclusive amenities along with golf cart access to PGA Golf Club’s 54 holes of championship golf. Less than an hour north of the Palm Beaches and approximately 90 minutes south of Orlando, Cresswind at PGA Village Verano combines luxury and low-maintenance living with convenient access to 21-miles of award-winning white sand beaches and a fine selection of shopping, dining and recreational activities. Single-family homes designed specifically for active adults are priced from the mid $200s to $500s. While many of the amenities are shared with the larger PGA Village Verano, Cresswind residents also enjoy access to the Cresswind Oasis and Pool scheduled to open in Spring 2019.
