Responsible for playing an integral role supporting the Strategic Alliance between the PGA TOUR and European Tour Group by consulting with the DP World Tour on its relationships with its portfolio of third-party event operators. The primary focus of this role will be the collaborative development and execution of growth strategies across the DP World Tour’s portfolio of events. This role will serve as the primary bridge between the PGA TOUR and European Tour Group in order to help evolve the relationships with and commercial success of third-party operators on the DP World Tour schedule.
Additional responsibilities include creation and execution of strategic support plans for each tournament by sharing best practices from the PGA TOUR’s Tournament Business model in the United States.
This position reports to the SVP of International and the PGA TOUR’s London Office Leader and will work very closely with key stakeholders such as the Chief Tournament Business Officer at the European Tour Group and the Tournament Business team at PGA TOUR Headquarters. This role will be based at the PGA TOUR’s business office in London, England.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA preferred
15+ years of sports marketing, business development, event management and/or marketing experience.
Experience working with other cultures and international teams a bonus
A solid understanding of the PGA Tour’s tournament business model required. Experience working with PGA TOUR Host Organizations preferred
Background with the PGA TOUR strongly preferred; strong interest in golf and the professional golf landscape required
Exceptional track record of relationship development and cross-functional collaboration
Excellent, verbal/written communication, and presentation skills
Detail-oriented, excellent teamwork and multitasking skills are a must
Confident, pro-active, and enthusiastic style that assimilates well within a team
Proven track record of driving strategic development to implementation
Highly organized with strong writing skills and attention to detail
Fluency in English is a must. Proficiency in a second language is a bonus
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- Provide subject matter expertise to DP World Tour in the following areas:
- Developing strategic support plans for each DP World Tour tournament run by third-party operators including sharing best practices from the PGA TOUR’s Tournament Business model
- Advising on key event relationships on the DP World Tour that are approaching renewal
- Consulting on development across core success drivers for the tournaments, such as: strategic planning; sales & revenue planning; community activation; expense management, branding, and operational standards including facilitating collaboration and best practices sharing among the DP World Tour’s events
- Developing new and refining existing business processes across best practices management, onboarding and launch of new tournaments, business metrics/analysis, marketing support, pre-event planning, and post-event reporting
- Providing guidance on comprehensive, long-range planning of tournament contract renewals.
- Consulting on complex contract negotiations and effectively leverage internal resources across Finance, Legal, Broadcasting, Marketing, Communications/PR, Player Relations, Digital, and other key DP World Tour departments
- Where applicable, consulting with the tournament sales teams on product development, sales planning, and prospecting to maximize local revenue
- Special projects or other duties as assigned
