PGA of America: PGA PerformanceTrak reports golf rounds played in 2012 were up 6.4 percent compared with 2011 data, representing the largest single year percentage increase in rounds played since 2000. Also, golf fee revenue was up 6.6 percent, leading to an estimated $700 million economic boost.
New Survey Reveals That Most Golfers Are Bending The Rules
Polara Golf: Reports on a Google Consumer Survey, which found that 73 percent of golfers admit to not following the rules, 78 percent play solely for fun and 63 percent would consider playing non-conforming equipment in an effort to maximize their enjoyment of the game. The results were based on more than 6,800 Internet respondents.

Golf Datatech: Announces that rounds played in 2012 have increased significantly and are trending toward record-high levels for the year. According to company spokesman Tom Stine, golf rounds played in the U.S. through the first nine months “are at an all-time high in terms of percentage increase, up 7.5% over 2011.”
