Brentwood, Tenn., – A thrilling finale at The Sony Open, featuring both players wearing spikes, ensured back-to-back wins for players wearing Softspikes to start 2025.
Shooting rounds of 66, 68, 65 and 65, including a chip-in eagle on the 72nd hole to finish 16 under-par and force a playoff, the 36-year-old Canadian moved his tally of Tour wins to 5 following a birdie on the second playoff hole at Waialae Country Club.
The winner was wearing Softspikes in his adidas Tour 360 shoes and the runner-up was wearing Tour Flex Pro spikes in their FootJoy Premiere Series shoes. A commanding 31 of the 35 finishers at The Sony Open also chose to compete in spiked golf shoes.
“It was great to see both players in the playoff at The Sony Open wearing spikes and we are delighted to start the year with two wins in succession,” commented Joe Henderson, President, Softspikes.
Tour players change grips and traction regularly based on course conditions, but amateur golfers rarely think about the impact wearing spikes has on consistency and distance. To achieve optimal performance benefits, golfers should be switching up their spikes every 15 rounds.
