Grande Dunes Is Ranked Number 15 Among 117 Area Courses
October 13, 2005, Myrtle Beach, S.C. – Grande Dunes Golf Course (Resort) has been named to Golf Digest’s first-ever list of the "Top 50 Courses of Myrtle Beach." Grande Dunes was rated as number 15; all 117 Grand Strand courses -public and private- were considered.
The rankings are published in the November edition of Golf Digest (now on news stands) and available online at golfdigest.com/myrtle. They are based on the opinions of Golf Digest’s panel of raters, a group of 800-plus low-handicap golfers. These golfers also rate "America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses" and "America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses."
At 7618 yards from the tips, the par 72 Grande Dunes Golf Club is a dramatic design that is located on a high bluff overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. Seven holes of the golf course play along the Intracoastal, providing golfers with panoramic views of the Waterway and maritime forest. The course has numerous elevation changes and features wide Bermuda fairways, generous L-93 bent grass greens, and more than 34 acres of fresh water lakes. When it opened, Grande Dunes was named one of the "Top 10 You Can Play" in America by Golf Magazine, and recently Golfweek named it one of America’s "Top 100 Residential Golf Courses."
