Package celebrates the 100th anniversary of The Westin Turnberry Resort
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND- (October 20, 2005)– MB Tours Ltd., specialists in the world of luxury golf and travel, now offers a spectacular package to celebrate the 100th anniversary of one of the finest golf destinations in the world – The Westin Turnberry Resort in Scotland.
The Turnberry Centenary Tour gives golfers the opportunity to play Turnberry’s acclaimed Ailsa and Kintyre courses along with area gems Prestwick, Royal Troon and Western Gailes. Meanwhile, the package includes five nights in a classic ocean-facing room at the 5-star Westin Turnberry Resort, world-renowned for its beautiful setting, elegant accommodations and Scottish hospitality.
The tour begins with arrivals into Glasgow Airport, where travelers are greeted by a Mackenzie Brock Tours representative and a private vehicle and driver – all of which are on hand for the duration of the trip. After the stunning arrival on the grounds of the Westin Turnberry Resort, travelers have the opportunity to settle in before a champagne reception in the Ailsa lounge and dinner in the Turnberry Brasserie.
After a full Scottish breakfast that kicks off each morning of the trip, golf on the first full day is on Turnberry’s Kintyre Course, which has hosted qualifying for the British Open. Afternoon play is on Turnberry’s Ailsa Course, long regarded as one of the greatest layouts in the world and site of some of the most memorable moments in British Open history.
Another former Open site, the Prestwick Old Course, will greet golfers the following day for a morning round. Prestwick was the original site of the Open in 1860 and went on to host the next 11 championships and 24 overall. A gripping 18 on that layout will be followed by an afternoon of relaxation at the award-winning spa at Turnberry, where golfers can soak their muscles in the pool before enjoying an 85-minute "Golfers Massage."
The exclusive Royal Troon also has a notable British Open history, having hosted eight championships, including the 2004 edition. Its’ Portland and Old courses will both host golfers on Day 4 of the package, while lunch in the historic clubhouse will be served in between the morning and afternoon rounds.
The final full day will see play at Western Gailes Golf Course, which has hosted qualifying for the Open as well as the Curtis Cup, PGA Championship and the Scottish Amateur. Following a full 18, the afternoon will be free for a variety of options, including a second round on the Turnberry Ailsa Course, relaxing by the pool or enjoying a whiskey or pint while overlooking the famous Ailsa Craig.
Dinner in the lavish Turnberry Restaurant will highlight the final evening, capped off by yet another comfortable night in the Westin Turnberry Resort’s signature Heavenly Bed. In the morning an MB Tours representative will ensure travelers get to Glasgow Airport in time for their return home.
The Turnberry Centenary Tour starts at £1950 per golfer (approximately $3,500 USD) and does not include airfare, insurance, caddy fees or alcohol. For additional information, call MB Tours LTD at their toll free number: (877) 7MB- TOUR, e-mail mm@mbtours.co.uk or visit www.mbtours.co.uk.
