2005 EWGA Leadership Award Will be Presented at EWGA Annual Conference
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., – October 26, 2005 – The Executive Women’s Golf Association’s Leadership Award, the highest recognition award given by the Association, will be presented to VISION54/Coaching for the Future, Inc. ® led by its founders Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott for their significant contributions to promoting women’s golf.
The award, which was inaugurated in 1994, recognizes individuals or companies who have demonstrated leadership, made significant contributions or paved the way for more women to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Past recipients include: Patty Berg, Peggy Kirk Bell, Judy Bell, Judy Dickinson, Michelle McGann, Alice Dye, Kathy Whitworth, Renee Powell, Golf for Women Magazine, and Linda Vollstedt.
"Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott are two of the top women instructors in the world and exemplify the values of this prestigious award through their dedication to promoting women’s golf," said Sara Hume, executive director of the EWGA. "Their teaching principles and beliefs reflect and have impacted many young and aspiring women golfers as well as the most prominent ones in the world today. It is our pleasure to honor VISION54 and its founders with the 2005 EWGA Leadership Award."
VISION54’s Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson, renowned golf educators and coaches, vision to influence the future of coaching and the game of golf through three areas: GOLF54®, COACH54® and THINK54®.They individually and collectively have won numerous awards including being recognized for many years as top teachers by Golf Digest, Golf For Women, and Golf Magazine. Pia Nilsson is the former head coach of the Swedish National Teams and has coached players like Annika Sorenstam and Carin Koch. She was formerly an European LPGA tour player and a Solheim Cup Captain. Lynn Marriott is widely considered to be the leading female instructor in the game. She has been the LPGA Teacher of the Year and was the Director of Teacher Training for the LPGA.
The 2005 EWGA Leadership Award will be presented on Saturday, November 5, at the EWGA’s gala awards banquet at the El Conquistador Resort in Tucson, Arizona. The banquet caps the Association’s three-day annual conference which is attended by over 400 EWGA members and volunteer leaders.
