Oswego, IL – SMT Golf, the 5-Time RE/MAX World Long Drive Champions had five competitors using their drivers in the Finals at the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships held recently in Mesquite, Nevada. SMT’s 455 Deep Bore and Spectrum drivers captured a 2nd and 5th Place finish in the Women’s Division with Melissa Brydon recording the longest drive in the qualifier at 305 yards. Mike Hooper, 4-Time World Champion and LDA Hall of Fame Member, finished 4th using his SMT Spectrum driver in the Super Senior Division, and SMT’s 455 Deep Bore had two more finals appearances as George Moisoff and Ted Fostey finished 5th and 6th respectively in the Senior Division.
SMT retains its title as the last component company to capture an Open Division World Championship with Carl Wolter back in 2002, as the large OEM’s have begun to make their presence known on the Long Drive Circuit. While many new manufacturers have made attempts to move in on the component companies and capture market share with the long drive competitors, SMT more than held its own and was the 2nd most used club at this years RE/MAX Finals.
"We’d like to thank all the competitors who used our drivers in LDA Tour events this year", said Mike Tait, President of SMT Golf, "and we’d like to congratulate George, Ted, Lizzy, Melissa, and Mike on their strong finishes at the RE/MAX World Finals. This event continues to grow each year and luckily for us each year we wind up having more and more of our drivers in the hands of these competitors. It’s a great event and we plan on being a big part of it for many years to come."
