PLANO, TX – Tom Watson, who began the day 6 shots back at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship in Sonoma, California, rallied to shoot an 8-under par round 64 to win the tournament by a single stroke. Watson birdied the 72nd hole to secure this victory, his third Champions Tour victory in 2005.
This is Watson’s second trip to the winners circle at the Schwab Cup, winning $1,000,000. He also won the Cup in 2003. "I didn’t expect to be here doing this today," said Watson who also picked up an additional $440,000 for his victory. "It was a round that I’ll always remember."
