ITASCA, IL. – October 30, 2005 – On the eve of Halloween, there was no trickery involved with the performance of the Zero Friction Golf Teeï?” at the Chrysler Championship as it helped treat the winner to his first PGA Tour title. It was Zero Friction’s 11th win on tour since debuting at the beginning of May, including eight on the PGA Tour and three on the Nationwide Tour.
With the winning score only 9-under, par was at a premium over the demanding Westin Innisbrook – Copperhead course and Zero Friction helped the champion lead the tournament in total pars while also finishing in the top 16 in driving accuracy.
Zero Friction’s solid week at the Chrysler Championship extended far beyond the winner. Two golfers using the revolutionary product finished tied for third and two others tied for 10th. Overall, 21 of the 37 golfers using the Zero Friction at the Chrysler Championship made the cut as it helped them to a solid combination of distance, accuracy and consistency.
Here are the statistics. One of the third-place finishers led the tournament in driving distance, averaging more than 307 yards off the tee, and finished eighth in pars. More importantly, the golfer jumped 25 places on the money list and is now virtually assured of having his Tour playing card in 2006. The other third-place finisher using the Zero Friction Golf Tee finished in top-20 in driving accuracy and was in the top-15 in both total birdies and pars.
Zero Friction’s remarkable three-pronged teeing system helped create superb driving distance for two 10th-place finishers as both averaged more than 290 yards off the tee to rank in the top-25 for the week in that category.
"Zero Friction is proud that we have helped another golfer break through into the winner’s circle on the PGA Tour," says Mike Herron, Business Development Manager for Excel Golf Tee, Inc., the parent company of Zero Friction. "Like the Zero Friction Golf Tee, those players are rapidly growing in stature and success in the world of golf. That’s a nice combination to be part of.
"The PGA Tour is winding down, but we expect the Zero Friction to help many golfers – both professional and amateur – to perform their best in years to come," adds Herron. "The Zero Friction is the golf tee to rest your golf ball on, whether you’re trying to win every week on the PGA Tour or just trying to beat your buddy for a $2 Nassau on the weekend."
The Zero Friction tee provides less resistance between the golf ball and the golf tee for longer, straighter drives. Its reduced spin rate fights dispersion, thereby keeping the ball on line and in the fairway.
Long hitters have shown their preference for the Zero Friction Golf Tee, as evidenced by the fact that it’s the Official Golf Tee of the Long Drivers of America Association and the Exclusive Golf Tee of the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship.
