Manufacturer Earns First, Third Place Finish in Spain
Carlsbad, California – November 1, 2005; Sonartec congratulates the first and third place finishers at the Volvo Masters over the weekend. The win was Sonartec’s 17th worldwide victory in 2005 and their second in five weeks on the European Tour. Sonartec also earned a third place finish at the event.
The Champion played a Sonartec Md hybrid transition club and won thanks in large part to his third round 65. He closed out the win by shooting a four-under-par 67 on Sunday. Before notching the win, he had recorded seven Top-10’s, including a pair of runner-up finishes. It was his first win of the 2005 European Tour season.
The Champion overcame a late surge by two of the top 15 players in the world in order to get the win. One of those late-charging players was the 15th-ranked player in the world. Playing a Sonartec SS-1.5 three wood, he shot an impressive seven-under-par 64 on Sunday. He finished the day three strokes off the lead and in a three-way tie for third place.
Sonartec is a leading innovator in fairway wood and hybrid technologies on and off the PGA Tour. In 2005 alone, Sonartec clubs have contributed to at least 17 worldwide victories and 62 PGA Tour Top-10 finishes. In addition to the Md, the Sonartec product line includes the NP-99 fairway wood, the SS-2.5 mid-faced and the SS-3.5 deep-faced fairway woods.
