Myrtle Beach’s "2005 Golf Course Of The Year" To Host 36-Hole Junior Golf Tournament December 31, 2005 – January 1, 2006
November 2, 2005, Murrells Inlet, S.C. – Continuing its commitment to help grow the game of golf, the TPC of Myrtle Beach will play host to the Plantations Junior Golf Tour, one of the nation’s largest and longest existing junior golf tours, December 31, 2005 – January 1, 2006. Established in 1994, the Plantations Junior Golf Tour (PJGT) is open to boys and girls from 8 to 19 years of age and runs Labor Day weekend 2005 through Memorial Day weekend 2006. The Myrtle Beach stop on the Plantations Junior Golf Tour will bring 96 junior golfers from across the country to the Grand Strand for the 36-hole event.
All participants will play 18 holes each day with points awarded for tournament finishes as well as bonus scoring points, Medalist points and membership awards. The PJGT offers junior golfers the opportunity to play competitive tournament golf at first-class golf courses, showcase their talent and receive national exposure through the National Junior Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek Magazine.
"We look forward to hosting the Plantations Junior Golf Tour’s only stop on the Grand Strand," said Rick Shoemaker, TPC of Myrtle Beach’s general manager. "The TPC of Myrtle Beach and the PGA TOUR have made junior golf a top priority so that we grow this great game of golf. The PJGT is a great opportunity for young golfers to play competitively, improve their game and have fun at the same time."

Grand Strand golf course to be designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. In 1999, TPC was recognized by both GOLF magazine and Golf Digest as one of the "Top 10 best upscale public Golf Courses" in America.
The TPC golf course, clubhouse, golf shop and practice facility are all open to the public.
