Pub Links Golfer Magazine Announces "Hands On" Play Testing

"Player’s Choice" Awards for Hybrid Iron -Woods for 2005


Pub Links Golfer Magazine, a national and local magazine in one dedicated to the daily fee, public and resort course player published it "Players Choice" awards for new Hybrid Iron-woods in the Fall 2005 issue. Clubs were rated on Appearance, Feel, Distance, Consistency, Forgiveness and Value and from these ratings we come up with an Overall Performance Rating

  • The Sonartec Md hybrid, Nickent 3DX and the Taylormade Rescue Dual had the Best Overall Performance rating.
  • The Best Appearance Category was captured by the Bridgestone J33 and Nickent 3DX hybrids
  • The Best Distance Category was captured by the Sonartec Md and Cleveland Halo hybrids
  • The Best Value Category was captured by the SMT Avocet, Tour Edge JMAX and Nickent 3DX hybrids
  • The Best Feel Category was captured by the Sonartec Md and Taylormade Rescue Dual hybrids
  • The Best Accuracy Category was captured by the Sonartec Md and Nickent 3DX hybrids
  • The Most Forgiving Category was captured by the Sonartec Md and Taylormade Rescue Dual hybrids

    Pub Links Golfer Magazine utilizes PGA professionals to supervise amateurs to test the latest clubs both on a range and over at least one round of golf. All play testers are volunteers. They are asked to rate clubs on Appearance, Feel, Forgiveness, Accuracy, Distance and Value using a scale of 1-10. Value is not based on cost alone, however what are testers believe provides the most value for the money. From these ratings we come up with an Overall Performance Rating. We DO NOT rate clubs against each other, rather we ask our play-testers to rate the club for what it is, to them. This is a subjective exercise. We make no pretense to being scientific. We simply offer our readers the same kind of informal feedback they might get, say, from a friend.
