Carlsbad, CA (11/1/05) – Continuing a heritage of innovation and success that made King Cobra SZ Fairway Metals the #1 selling model* the last two years, Cobra Golf introduces the King Cobra Speed Series Fairway Metals, the first fairway line designed to optimize every player’s unique ball speed for unmatched distance, control and forgiveness.
The new Speed Series consists of three models, each designed for distinct player types and their specific ball speeds – X/Speed – for extreme ball speed players, F/Speed – for faster ball speed players and M/Speed – for moderate ball speed players. M/Speed Fairway Metals are also available in Senior’s and Women’s models.

All King Cobra Speed Fairway Metals conform to the USGA and R&A Rules of Golf. They will begin shipping to golf shops in November with a suggested retail price of $220 for graphite shafts and $190 for steel shafts.

KING COBRA SPEED SERIES TECHNOLOGY
Rhombus Face Technology. A rhombus shaped center, strategically positioned within a larger, thinner perimeter, delivers greater face flex for greater ball speed and a larger, Hot Zone.
Larger Face Area. Speed fairways are designed with larger, hotter clubfaces to promote greater distance, accuracy and forgiveness.
Dual Weighting System. Dual weight pads placed lower and further back in the sole shift the center of gravity out to the perimeter of the clubhead to increase inertia and promote ideal launch angle and optimum spin rate. Weighting is tailored in each model to ensure consistent performance for all player types.
Sculpted Sole Design. New sole design promotes increased forgiveness by moving the Dual Weighting System low, back and out to the perimeter of the clubhead. The contoured sole helps reduce drag to improve shots hit from virtually any lie.
Fast-back Crown Design. Speed’s unique crown design tapers back to move the center of gravity lower in the head to help create a higher launch angle for optimal launch and carry distance.

Speed Tuned Custom Heads. Like Speed drivers, the X, F and M/Speed Fairway heads are specifically designed for distinct player segments and their specific ball speeds.
Speed Tuned Custom Graphite Shafts. Customized, co-branded shafts are tuned to each individual model to optimize the performance of every Speed Fairway Metal – resulting in greater distance, control and forgiveness.
Speed Tuned Custom Grips. The weight, compound and design of each grip is specifically tuned to provide the perfect feel and performance for each Speed model/player type.
Speed Series Drivers and Fairway Metals are designed to optimize performance for specific player ball speeds. Using the chart below, players will determine the right Speed model for them by identifying their current average driving distance, driver swing speed and/or driver ball speed.
