Oswego, IL – In recent "Hands-On" player testing, administered nationally by Pub Links Golfer Magazine, SMT Golf’s new Durometer Series wedge was awarded a "Players’ Choice" Award for receiving the Highest Reader’s Rating in the "Best Value" category.
In this program, wedges are submitted by the manufacturers and tested by amateur golfers all over the country under the supervision of a PGA Professional. The testing was administered to golfers of varied skill levels in order to give a better representation of how all golfersâ?¦not just the pros, hit these clubs. Each wedge is then ranked in several categories: Appearance, Feel, Forgiveness, Consistency, Distance, and Value and then given an Overall Performance Rating based on these cumulative scores. SMT’s Durometer Series wedge ranked #1 in Value against twenty other wedges that were tested including TaylorMade’s RAC Black Wedges, Titleist’s Vokey Spin Milled Wedges, and Cleveland’s CG 11 Series Wedges just to mention a few.
In addition to winning the Players’ Choice Award for "Best Value", SMT’s Durometer Series Wedge received an Honorable Mention in the "Best Feel" category and finished with extremely high ratings in every category in which it was ranked.
The Durometer Series Wedge may be the most innovative design to ever come out of SMT Golf. It features a rubber shock-absorbing insert in the hosel of the club. Shock, vibration, or feel as vibration is often called, is transferred up the shaft to the hands. SMT effectively dampens the transmission of impact vibration where it begins, at the hosel. The Players Series wedge (black rubber insert) absorbs up to 14% of the shock and the Tour series wedge (green rubber insert) absorbs up to 4% of the shock normally felt when striking the ball. The wedges are made from 303 Stainless Steel with a CNC milled face and grooves that are machined in. There are a total of 12 wedges in the new line varying from 49 to 59 degrees
