GLENVIEW, Ill. (Nov. 14, 2005) – Henry Crown and Company General Partner A. Steven Crown announced the promotion of David W. Fairman to President of Crown Golf Properties, the Chicago, Ill.-based golf course management company. Fairman served as the company’s chief financial officer for the past two and one half years.
"I am honored by the confidence Steve Crown has shown in me, and thrilled about the future of our company," said Fairman about his appointment.
Recently, Crown Golf has been awarded three golf management contracts in Florida: Providence Golf and Country Club (Orlando), Presidential Country Club (North Miami Beach), and this month, Heritage Isles Golf Club (Tampa). Negotiations are underway for an additional contract, which is expected to be signed in December.
"We have an excellent team in place to provide what we call ‘championship service’ to our clients and customers. We plan to leverage the considerable resources available to us as a Henry Crown company in order to aggressively compete in the management services business," Fairman said.
Fairman, whose initial involvement in golf course acquisition and management began in 1993, brings a wealth of financial, business and development experience to the company. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University, and is a graduate of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
On the development side, Fairman noted that the company’s upscale private club in Arizona, the Golf Club Scottsdale, was featured in October among Golf Magazine’s "10 to Take your Breath away." "Construction of the permanent Clubhouse is proceeding on schedule and we are receiving extremely positive responses from both current and prospective members," Fairman said.
Crown Golf Properties operates 18 courses throughout the US including properties in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Wisconsin, New Jersey and Florida.
The company is a privately held limited partnership owned by Henry Crown and Company whose diverse interests range from large-scale office buildings such as Rockefeller Center in New York City, to the Aspen Ski Company and the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa in Ojai, California. Other notable properties include the Snowmass Club and Lodge in Aspen, Colorado, The Golf Club Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona and Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Chicago, Ill.
