LEADERBOARD MAKES CHARITABLE GOLF GESTURE

November 15, 2005

Leading golf club owner the Leaderboard Group has given its full backing to charity.

The progressive group, which owns four high-class courses and a thriving golf centre, will donate full green fees from events run by registered charities at all of its four courses until the end of March next year.

That means charities can cash in when booking their golf days at Chart Hills in Kent, The Oxfordshire near Thame, Dale Hill in East Sussex, and Sandford Springs in Hampshire.

David Walls, the director of sales and marketing for the Leaderboard Group, said: "We have successfully held charity days at each of our four golf centres for many years now, and we would like to continue that association and help raise necessary funds for any charities who wish to host their golf days with us."

Charities would benefit from successful golf days by continuing to charge players an entry fee, with the green fee from the day being donated to the charity.

Walls added: "The Leaderboard Group is synonymous with style and quality and we can assure potential visitors of a tremendous day on and off any of four golf courses.

"We pride ourselves on the quality of our service and attention to detail, as well as the quality of our golf courses, and this way we can also make a difference by helping raise the profile of notable charities and hopefully raise a lot of money for worthy causes."

All four golf clubs, under the guidance of Leaderboard owners Paul and Jennifer Gibbons and their respective general managers, have an impressive track record of fundraising, and notable donations include cash raised in aid of the Disasters Emergency Committee in the wake of Boxing Day’s Asian tsunami and the Duchess of Kent Trust hostel in Reading, Berkshire.

The quartet are also hosting charity golf days for Children in Need, with The Oxfordshire booked in for November 16, Sandford Springs holding its day on November 17, Dale Hill raising cash on November 18, and Chart Hills, home of the Ladies’ English Open, wrapping up the fundraisers on Saturday, November 19.
