Mitchell® Golf Equipment Institute continues to lead the golf industry in certifying professional Club Repair Technicians. Another class graduated November 9, 2005 at Orange County National Golf Resort on the campus of Professional Golfer’s Career College.
Mitchell® Club Repair Technician schools include instruction and hands-on experience in re-shafting, re-gripping and measuring & bending golf club angles. Students attend an extensive 3-day class related to all types of club repair. Classes include detailed lectures concerning club specifications and performance, followed by hands on experience in Mitchell® Golf’s state of the art club repair lab. Each attendee learns repair techniques necessary for today’s modern golf club designs including frequency matching golf shafts.
Graduates from the November 7 – 9 school include Kurt Ailerson, Sandhills Golfworks, Sanford, NC; Pat Francisco, Golf USA of Melbourne, Melbourne, FL; John Goins, Jacksonville, FL; Scott Jackson, Nevada Bob’s Golf, Gulfport, MS; Jerry Lovell, Custom Crafted Clubs, Port St Lucie, FL; Hart McKeown, Pro Golf of Coral Springs, Coral Springs, FL; Brandon Pfaffly, Texas Indoor Golf, Denton, TX; Lee Sanford, ML Wilson Co, Melbourne, FL; Jan Wark & Neil Wark, Golf USA of Clermont, Clermont, FL.
"This is another great group that we are proud to have join our alumni of Mitchell® Club Repair Technicians," states Paul Bessler, school instructor and PGA Golf Professional. "These students are skilled in the necessary steps for performing re-shafting, re-gripping, loft/lie adjustments and repair techniques for today’s modern golf clubs."
Students worked with recognized products from Mitchell® Golf Equipment Company, True Temper, SMT, Rapport Composites, Swing Science, Grafalloy and Golf Pride. Mitchell® Club Repair Technician schools are held throughout the year. Tuition includes tools and supplies necessary for certification.
Mitchell® Golf Equipment Institute also conducts its Club Performance Fitting school on the range at Orange County National Golf Resort. The Club Performance Fitting Specialist curriculum begins with a study of how head, shaft and grip designs influence ball flight. Attendees analyze their own golf clubs to quantify how club specifications affect ball flight. Zelocity PureLaunchâ?¢ and Accusport Vectorâ?¢ launch monitors are used to analyze club and ball performance. The class includes actual launch monitor time with each student hitting balls with a matrix of clubs from Cleveland Golf, KZG, Tommy Armour Golf, and Sonartec. These demo clubs are custom made with a matrix of shafts from Aldila, Grafalloy, UST, Rapport and the original manufacturer. The class concludes with a discussion of how to best match club specifications with launch monitor data to achieve desired club performance.
