Golfweek Magazine Names Fiddler’s Creek’s The Creek Course as One of America’s 100 Best Residential Golf Courses

November 30, 2005

NAPLES, Fla. (November 29, 2005)—The Arthur Hills designed Creek Course at The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek® is recognized by Golfweek magazine as one of America’s 100 Best Residential Golf Courses in the publication’s third annual special issue entitled

America’s Best Residential Golf Courses—The Definitive Guide to Luxury Golf Course Living 2006.

The Creek Course enters this prestigious ranking of the country’s finest residential communities at No. 82, and Fiddler’s Creek’s gem is the only course in southwest Florida that is rated in the top 100. The distinction acknowledges what members of The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek who regularly play this challenging yet exhilarating 7,157-yard layout can attest, and that is that the golf experience here is exceptional. Golfweek’s residential ratings are derived from the magazine’s annual list of America’s Best Courses, which is published each March. America’s Best Courses are ranked by more than 350 raters throughout the country, who judge facilities on the basis of 10 evaluation criteria. Rankings then are calculated using a statistically rigorous process.

"Golfweek is dedicated to honoring courses where golf course architects, developers and land planners have successfully established home sites while protecting basic golf values," states Bradley S. Klein, Golfweek’s America’s Best Courses program director and architecture editor.

The Gulf Bay Group of Companies, the developer of Fiddler’s Creek, has made a conscience effort to uphold a high standard for its golf courses and to ensure that The Golf Club of Fiddler’s Creek members have a tranquil environment in which to play. A second private course, The Preserve, designed by the leading team of Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, soon will begin construction at Fiddler’s Creek.

Hurdzan sits on the Golf and Environment Committee that wrote the list of ten principles to guide the sighting, construction and maintenance of golf courses in the U.S. The Golf Club at Fiddler’s Creek ultimately will afford its members with 72 holes of championship golf.
