SANTA MONICA, CA (Dec. 2 , 2005) — TOTAL GOLF ADVENTURES (TGA), National Golf Program and the only at-school, after school, golf enrichment program in the country announced today that PGA Apprentice Matthew Berman has been granted the rights for the licensed territory of Montgomery County, MD.

"I am very pleased to welcome Matthew to the TGA family as the 23rd licensed territory," said Joshua Jacobs, Owner/Director of TGA. "His leadership skills and teaching experience with juniors provide him with a great foundation for motivating children and growing the game."

Matthew was most recently an Assistant Golf Professional at The Tournament Players Club at Avenel in Potomac, Maryland. He ran three junior camps at Avenel, consisting of more than 200 juniors throughout the summers. Matthew has not only had several years of training as a PGA apprentice in the Professional Golf Management Program, he is also a certified teaching professional through the United States Golf Teaching Federation. Matthew played golf for his college team where he received the MVP award his sophomore and senior year. He was team captain his senior year and won 3 tournaments, including the conference championship, earning him the conference player of the year award. Matthew holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Muhlenberg College and a Master’s degree in Sports Management from East Stroudsburg University.

"TGA offers a unique opportunity to combine my golf instruction skills and business education background while maintaining my passion for working with children." said Matthew Berman.

TGA’s program, available for children in grades K-8, extends beyond learning the game of golf and honing the golf swing. A child’s passion for the game of golf grows with a program that expands and improves their motor skills and coordination, encourages their advancement, and builds their confidence and self-esteem.

In addition, the TGA program promotes and teaches life values intrinsic to the game of golf:

  • Respect
  • Honesty
  • Teamwork
  • Sportsmanship
  • Commitment and Integrity
