Palm Coast, Fla. – Dec. 5, 2005 – Professional Caddies Association (PCA), an organization dedicated to providing caddies with high quality benefits, services and certification through educational and communication programs worldwide, has chosen The 2006 PGA Merchandise Show (Jan. 26-29, 2006) in Orlando, Fla. as the stage to debut its Caddie Anthem "Five Feet Away."
Performed by two-time Grammy Award-winner and songwriter Michael Bolton, the Song underscores the important role caddies play on and off the course and transcends beyond the Caddie/golfer relationship to everyone who has ever had a person just Five Feet Away encouraging them to be the best that they could be.
"More than three years of work have gone into this project to capture the essence of the caddie’s job on and off the golf course and put it to music in a way that will stick in the hearts and minds of people worldwide," said Dennis Cone, founder of the World Caddie Headquarters. "This is exactly why we’ve chosen The PGA Merchandise Show – the core of the golf industry and playground to golf entrepreneurs and enthusiasts nationwide – as the perfect location for the Anthem’s launch."
Initially written and produced for Bruce Edwards, Tom Watson’s long time caddie and friend, and dedicated to all caddies worldwide, the Song was played at Edwards’ funeral when he lost his courageous battle against ALS on April 8, 2004 – the first day of the Masters tournament. Now re-mastered by Nashville’s best music teams and performed by two-time Grammy Award-winner and songwriter for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance Michael Bolton, "Five Feet Away" is scheduled to debut on Jan. 27th, 2006.
"To have the honor of two-time Grammy-winner and song writer Michael Bolton singing the final version of our Anthem has been more than this foundation and its founders could ever have expected," added Cone.
