HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – A new web-based business designed to assist persons in the market for golf-oriented real estate has been launched by the founder of Links Magazine.
Mark Brown, who founded the popular magazine in 1988, is taking some of the concepts that made Links successful to internet users via his latest venture, Golf Real Estate OnLine. Geared toward the consumer, Golf Real Estate OnLine provides readers with information about the finest golf communities and real estate in the country. But GREOL is much more than simply a listing service.
Located on the Internet at www.golfrealestateonline.com, GREOL is both an online magazine for the consumer and a high quality lead generator for marketing and sales directors of golf communities. In addition to listing properties for sale within golf communities throughout the U.S., the website provides valuable, in-depth information about each community, including the golf courses and architects, homes and homesites, membership options and much more.
For the consumer, GREOL focuses on everything the prospective home buyer needs to know to make an educated decision. The "Home Buying Guide" section of the website is filled with articles written by experts in their field who cover topics like "How the Golf Course Designer Affects Property Value and Sales" and "Choosing a Golf Community Based on the Quality and Number of Courses Offered." Other topics to be explored on the site include Property Owner Associations, Assessments and Fees, Equity vs. Non-Equity Memberships, Club Amenities, Fractional Ownership, Re-Sale Properties, Private versus Resort Communities, Home Building, Financing, Interior Design, Landscaping and more.
Each community represented on GREOL is highlighted in an in-depth, three-page "Community Profile," in many ways a mini-website within the website. Featuring the type of
photography that has become the hallmark of Links Magazine, each property’s Profile provides detailed information about the community, golf courses, practice facilities, location and directions, real-time weather conditions and contact information, as well as displays of property and homes for sale.
"There are a handful of websites devoted to golf real estate," Brown said, explaining the reasoning that led to the founding of Golf Real Estate OnLine. "But every site I looked at was little more than a listing service. GREOL is unique in that we provide in-depth information about the community and the overall buying process.
"When someone is interested in buying a home, there is much more in the search and buying process than simply the price and dimensions of the home. That’s true, regardless of where you are looking, but it’s especially true when someone is looking for their dream home within the golf community that’s right for them. It’s just as important to know about the community, the club, the golf course, the amenities and the programs and activities as the home you are buying.
"All of these things combine to create the overall experience of living in a golf community," Brown said, "and Golf Real Estate OnLine was designed to address all of these important considerations. We provide not only the information you need to know, but the questions you need answers to when you are shopping for the ideal place to live."
In addition to information on the website, GREOL readers receive monthly e-mail newsletters that will keep them up to date on trends within the industry and new properties on the market. The "Ask the Editor" feature also makes it possible for readers to ask specific questions not addressed within the site that will be answered by the editors of Golf Real Estate OnLine.
State-of-the-art Search technology within the site enables GREOL readers to look for properties by state, region, amenities, location (oceanfront, lake, mountain, etc.), type (single-family home, condominium, fractional ownership, etc.), price and more. Searches can be completed from one web page, without any time-consuming backtracking. The site is easily navigated and stunning photography throughout adds to the ‘surfing’ experience.
"Because of the content of the website – both the editorial content and the photography – Golf Real Estate OnLine is naturally attractive to a highly sophisticated audience," Brown said. "For that reason, the website generates highly qualified leads for participating communities."
Launched in October, Golf Real Estate OnLine already has an impressive list of communities featured on the site, including Desert Mountain in Arizona, The Reunion in Florida, the Currahee Club and Cuscowilla in Georgia, Grande Dunes, Daniel Island and Haig Point in South Carolina; The Cliffs Communities in both North and South Carolina and The Virginian in Virginia. More upscale golf communities and properties are being added to the site daily.
Communities interested in being featured on Golf Real Estate OnLine should contact GREOL Sales Director Dick Holcomb in Atlanta at 770-740-7120 or by e-mail at dick@golfrealestateonline.com.
