FORT WORTH, Texas — In a dramatic four-way playoff, high-performance graphite shafts by United Sports Technologies® (UST) delivered cutting-edge performance and dominated the top money at this week’s Nedbank Challenge. Both this year’s champion and runner-up played drivers upgraded with Proforce-branded graphite shafts, including one of the new super low-torque Proforce V2 shafts.
"The Nedbank Challenge is traditionally the richest event of the off-season, and we congratulate both UST players for delivering a superb performance in dramatic fashion," says Shawn Mullin, a PGA Tour representative for UST. "Since its official unveiling earlier this season, the all-new Proforce V2 has tallied an incredible record, scoring more than a dozen Top 10 finishes and multiple wins on professional tours around the world."
UST’s new Proforce V2 is an incredibly powerful, super low-torque golf shaft that masterfully balances torque, weight, spin and launch angle and that optimizes the performance of today’s 400cc to 460cc heads, explains Mullin. Most of today’s larger driver and fairway wood heads position the center of gravity further away from the shaft’s center line, a design characteristic that causes more twisting pressure on the shaft. However, the low-torque design of the V2 helps prevents clubheads from twisting open on impact, thus limiting the amount of back spin imparted onto the ball and transferring more energy at impact.
The new Proforce V2 also incorporates UST’s revolutionary ‘hoop strength’ technology that uses a material lay up (or 90-degree material design) and helps the shaft recover faster when loaded or flexed. The result of the combined technologies is a high-performance graphite shaft that offers higher launch angles, increased ball speed with less spin for a tighter shot pattern.
