NEW YORK, New York, December 13, 2005 – GPS Industries Inc. (OTCBB: GPSN), a leading innovator of Wi-Fi and GPS-enabled multimedia communications and management solutions for golf facilities, resorts, sporting events and residential communities is pleased to announce that the company has completed a deal worth over half a million dollars with one of China’s best new golf courses, Suzhou Jinji Lake International Golf Club. This is the company’s first installation in China.
Located two hours west of Shanghai and fifteen minutes from the ancient garden city of Suzhou, the new private members golf club has 27 holes designed around three concepts: Forest, Wetlands and Links.
This sale gives GPS Industries a high-profile signature course in China, where they will provide 200 of their Inforemer units, both cart mounted and handheld, along with a full suite of management software, Wi-Fi, and tournament software.
"We are very excited to be using the Inforemer system at a golf club that promises to be one of the most modern and most exclusive golf clubs in all of China," says John Blanch, of International Management Group (IMG), the golf course management company operating the Jinji Lakes International Golf Club. "We have looked at all the different GPS systems and feel this one is most suited for a course with multiple languages, and we especially like the capability of displaying distance in both yards and meters. Along with our state of the art 10,000 sq. meter clubhouse, this state of the art GPS system insures that our members are receiving the most advanced golfing technology and service available today."
Comments Robert Silzer, Sr., CEO and President of GPS Industries: "We have been seeking to broaden our base and firmly establish our products in the Asian market. Our Chinese company representative has met with many golf courses in the region and feels that the Jinji Lakes golf club represents a perfect high-profile introduction to the Chinese market. We feel confident this is just the beginning, and as the Chinese fully embrace golf, they will also embrace our technology. We are currently forecasting that our GPS products and course management systems will begin to quickly spread throughout China and the rest of Asia in the near term."
China is now seeing the fastest growth in the golf industry in all of Asia. With the Chinese economy growing by double digits yearly, a new Chinese middle and upper-middle class is discovering the sport of golf. Construction is underway in China for a new nationwide golf infrastructure, and Western companies are currently rushing to become part of this Chinese golfing boom.
Adds Silzer: "The last few months have shown a rapid advance in both product sales and the development of new revenue streams. We are very happy to establish our GPS system in China, where we hope to build a complete market dominance. We are also looking forward to continuing our advance into the Asian market, as we are gearing up for and preparing for triple digit growth worldwide in the year to come."
