Arizona State men’s golf coach Randy Lein and associate head coach Mickey Yokoi have announced that Tristan Bierenbroodspot (Netherlands) and James Dalthorp III (Los Angeles, Calif.) have signed with Arizona State and should join the team in the fall of 2006.

Dalthorp had a 69.90 scoring average this last summer in national events. He was runner-up in the Los Angeles City Amateur as he shot under par in each round (71-70-70-67). He also shot a 65 in final round of the AJGA Mission Hills Desert Junior.

Bierenbroodspot is a member of the Dutch National Junior Team and the Dutch National Men’s Team. He won all of his matches in July in the European Boys Championships helping his team to their first title. He finished third in the Dutch National Amateur and 13th in the European Amateur.

International players have flourished under Lein, as current Sun Devil Alejandro Canizares, a native of Spain, won the 2003 NCAA Championship and is a three-time All-American. Another current Sun Devil, Niklas Lemke, is a native of Sweden and earned honorable mention All-American honors last year. Lein also coached Three-time All-American and three-time Pac-10 champion Paul Casey, a native of England, from 1997-2000.

"Coach Yokoi and I are thrilled with these two student-athletes," notes Lein, who has led ASU to nine NCAA top-10 finishes in his 13 years at Arizona State. "James and Tristan are exceptional players. Both should make an immediate impact and they have a true passion for the game, love to practice and love to compete. Both will be outstanding additions to our Sun Devil family."

Bierenbroodspot and Dalthorp join a program that has won two national titles (1990 and 1996) and 11 Pac-10 championships. Lein has recruited a NCAA champion (Canizares), a U.S. Public Links champion (Chez Reavie), an Arizona Amateur champion (Jesse Mueller) and a British Amateur champion (Paul Casey).
