GolfServ to Launch GolfServ Advantage Team Championship

Innovative and exciting tournament format to allow GolfServ Advantage members to compete against each other for weekly prizes and a trip to Scotland

ROCKVILLE, Md., (Dec. 12, 2005) – GolfServ, the leading online provider of golf content and services, announced today the launch of the GolfServ Advantage Team Championship, an exciting two-person team competition that offers GolfServ Advantage members the opportunity to play golf with and compete against other club members.

The GolfServ Advantage Team Championship, set to launch in January 2006, is a series of weekly team competitions that will culminate in an annual club championship. The Team Championship is open to all members of the more than 35 GolfServ Advantage golf clubs who have a USGA Handicap Index.

The highlights of the Team Championship include:

  • GolfServ Advantage members will form two-person teams to play against other two-person teams in weekly competitions. Teams will register through their local GolfServ Advantage web site.
  • Upon registration, teams will indicate the name of the course the team is playing, the tee box and the date they will play. Immediately following the round, the team captain will post team scores through the club web site.
  • The net score of both team members will be combined into an overall team score using the patented Matrix Golf Methodology™. The Methodology takes into account the playing difficulty of the course, allowing an equitable comparison of the teams’ scores.
  • Results from each of the weekly events will be accessible to GolfServ Advantage members on each GolfServ Advantage club web site.
  • Prizes will be awarded to the winning teams each week and the winning team in each week’s event will gain entry into the annual club championship hosted by each GolfServ Advantage club.
  • Winners of the club Championship will compete against the other GolfServ Advantage club champions to win a trip for two to Scotland. The trip includes 5 days of golf at Scotland’s finest courses, including British Open venues the Old Course of St. Andrews and Carnoustie.

    GolfServ is launching the GolfServ Advantage Team Championship in association with Matrix Golf, Inc. GolfServ is licensed semi-exclusively by Matrix Golf to use the Matrix Golf Methodology™, U.S. Patent # 6,571,143.

    Traditionally, golfers play on the same golf course to compete on a level playing field. Using the Matrix Golf Methodology™, GolfServ Advantage clubs will be able to organize the weekly events and annual club Championship at multiple courses near the clubs’ headquarters. The Matrix Golf Methodology™ takes into account the playing difficulty of the course, allowing an equitable comparison of golfers’ scores.
