New England GolfGuide 2006 today named Okemo Valley Golf Club the best course in Vermont, and awarded the course 4 stars.
The designation comes as a result of multiple factors, first of which is the wonderful design, beauty, and challenge of the Par 70 course. But important additional factors include the ability to walk, the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, and the additional amenities of a great pro shop, two restaurants, and a first-rate learning center.
Okemo Valley, designed by Steve Durkee, plays 6400 yards from the tips, and offers five sets of tees, suitable for any level of play. "It’s a stunning course to see," says Golf Guide Editor John DiCocco. "The use of high mounds, covered with vari-colored fescues, serves to isolate holes from one another, as well as to provide strategic decisions throughout the track. And the bent grass tees, fairways, and greens allow for confident shotmaking. It should be on every New Englander’s must-play list."
The New England Golf Guide 2006 Edition is in its 17th year, and can be purchased in major book and sporting good stores throughout the region as well as from newenglandgolfguide.com
