In the month to 15 December 2005 the Golfalot Price Index, which tracks the average price of golf equipment from UK retailers, fell by 3.3%. As the online Christmas season approached, many retailers came out with special offers to increase sales and move product before new ranges arrive in early 2006. The biggest movers were drivers and fairway woods which fell 10% and utility clubs which were down 8%. Wedges, putters and golf balls fell 3%, with irons the only category to buck the trend with a 1% rise. Among accessories, shoes gave back the rise of last month with a 2% fall in price.
