(LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 20, 2005) – The Professional CLUBMAKERS’ Society (PCS) announced eight graduates from its Advanced Fitting School held Dec. 14-16, 2005, at the organization’s International Headquarters, the Elmore Just Clubmakers Cottage, in Louisville, Ky. The attendees covered all aspects of properly fitting golfers with precisely matched components to create a set of golf clubs.
Receiving certificates for completing the December PCS Advanced Fitting School were Christon Clark, The Club Doctor, Waterloo, Ind.; David Lawrence, Swing Easy Golf, Inc., Indianapolis, Ind.; Don Coyle, Country Acres Custom Clubmaking, Mt. Vernon, Ill.; Frank Deyo, The Sand Trap, Carlisle, Pa.; Gary Gazall, Fairway Golf, Inc., Lansing, Mich.; Jun-Heon Jin, Fairway Golf, Inc., Lansing, Mich.; Peter Kim, Fairway Golf, Inc., Lansing, Mich.; and Randy Vaughn, The Club Shoppe, Murphy, North Carolina.
Some of the attendees provided feedback on the Advanced Fitting School. The following are some of their comments: "much better than the other fitting school that I had already attended, more depth;" "the classroom/fitting studio facilities are first class and the knowledge of the instructors was excellent;" and "my expectations were to leave with as much knowledge I could regarding clubfitting, and I wasn’t disappointed."
Led by PCS Executive Technical Director Bob Dodds, the teaching team for the December PCS Advanced Fitting School included 2003 PCS Clubmaker of the Year Bob Uebehlor, Uebelhor Golf, Indianapolis, Ind.; 2004 PCS Clubmaker of the Year Jerry Hoefling, Sr., The Club Doctor, Saginaw, Mich.; and PCS Professional "Class A" Clubmaker Jim McCleery, McGolf, Waverly, Ohio, who also is chair of the PCS Education and Training Committee. Combining classroom instruction with hands-on practical demonstrations, the PCS Advanced Fitting School guides clubmakers through all steps necessary to measure and fit golfers and select components matched to the golfer’s swing and ability. The school has a special session pertaining to using launch monitors in a clubfitting, and it also has special sections on fitting drivers, wedges and putters included in the agenda. Attendees also received a CD filled with 15-minute summaries of different fitting processes demonstrated by some of the world’s best club-fitting experts.
The next Advanced Fitting School is scheduled for the Feb. 27-March 1 at PCS Headquarters (immediately preceding the 15th Annual PCS International Symposium and Expo March 2-5 at the Galt House Hotel, Louisville, Ky.). Other PCS Advanced Fitting Schools in 2006 are: Aug. 14-16, and Oct. 16-18. The registration fee is $375 for PCS members and $495.00 for non-members.
