Oswego, IL – SMT Golf, The 5-Time RE/MAX World Long Drive Champions and Winningest Component Company In The History Of Golf, announced today that they will be introducing two new drivers at The 2006 PGA Merchandise Show being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida January 26 thru the 29th. SMT Golf will be located in Booth #4706 and will be unveiling their brand new Indio and Encore drivers.
Indio Driver
A brand new offering for 2006 is the highly anticipated Indio Driver. The 430 cc head features a PATENTED, double forged, crosshatch titanium crown that is designed to reduce the overall weight of the club head without sacrificing strength. The extremely thin ultralight textured crown allows additional weight to be added to the sole of the driver via a series of weighted "fins" that lower and deepen the Center Of Gravity making it easier to launch the ball higher and further.
Encore Driver
The Encore, a 450 cc version of "The Longest Driver On Any PGA Tour," the Spectrum driver will also be added to the SMT’s 2006 lineup. Due to the manufacturing process, it is almost impossible to have a soleplate cover three distinctive sides of the clubhead, the sole, backskirt and crown all at the same time, yet the Encore does. This unique design afforded SMT the luxury of both deepening the Center Of Gravity while at the same time raising it. This gives the Encore the best of both worlds, amazingly solid feel at impact and a trajectory that is not too high to promote extra roll.
"We’ve done some pretty unique things with the new Indio and Encore drivers," said Mike Tait, President of SMT Golf. "Last year, a lot of manufacturers tried to move the weight around and lower the C.O.G. by introducing drivers with lightweight composite graphite crowns. Less weight on top meant you could add more weight to the sole of the club head. It worked, but a lot of players didn’t like the "feel" and "sound" that the graphite shell produced. With the Indio driver, we’ve introduced an extremely thin, double-forged crosshatch Titanium crown. The process is patented and it achieves the same result but we were able to retain that solid "sound" and "feel" that only a 100% Titanium driver can produce. The Encore is a larger, 450cc version of our very successful Spectrum driver that earned the title of The Longest Driver On Any PGA Tour and we had a ton of success with on the LDA Tour as well. It’s taken awhile to get these two new models ready to introduce but I guarantee you it’s going to be worth the wait."
