SasQuatch Driver and Slingshot OSS Irons Earn Editors’ Choice Honors
BEAVERTON, Ore. (January, 4, 2006) – The results of the third annual Golf Digest Magazine’s Hot List equipment rankings are in and Nike Golf received two of the highest and most prestigious honors, the Editors’ Choice Awards in the driver category and super game-improvement iron category. The rankings of the "hottest" equipment can be seen in Golf Digest’s February issue.
In the comprehensive rankings, which rate the "hottest" products in all equipment categories, the new distinctive Nike Golf SasQuatch driver was awarded the "Editors’ Choice" Award in the driver category and the new Slingshot OSS iron was awarded the "Editors’ Choice" Award in the super game-improvement iron category.
"Being recognized for our continued efforts to bring real innovation to golfers around the world is extremely gratifying," said Bob Wood, President of Nike Golf. "This honor by Golf Digest’s editors is further validation of the remarkable and positive feedback we’ve had from the marketplace on Nike Golf’s new products. Since the launch of both the SasQuatch driver and the Slingshot OSS irons last fall, golf retailers and golfers alike have been acknowledging our breakthrough design and technology."
The new Nike SasQuatch 460 Driver, with its visually distinctive head design and yellow sole design, features the deepest center of gravity (CG) in golf and achieves this without the use of weights. With its CG set back, low and deep, the SasQuatch incorporates geometry that teams up with physics to create more forgiveness, greater distance and extra accuracy.
The new Slingshot OSS (Oversize Slingback) is an extension of the highly-acclaimed Slingshot franchise, and is quickly becoming known as the easiest iron to hit on the market. By enhancing the winning design features that garnered the original Slingshot an award by Golf Digest for 2004 Iron of the Year, Nike Golf engineers have shifted the center of gravity lower and deeper in the Slingshot OSS to take forgiveness to a whole new level and make it easier to square the clubface.
"We believe that the technological breakthrough in new geometry for both the SasQuatch driver and Slingshot OSS irons is clearly what separates our products from the rest of the market," said Tom Stites, Director of Product Creation for Nike Golf. "This new geometry is very effective at achieving a deep center of gravity and that is the key to improved performance."
Both the Nike SasQuatch driver and the Nike Slingshot OSS irons are available in golf stores now.
