TORONTO – January 4, 2006 – Element 21 Golf Company (E21) is pleased to report that the Company has received confirmation from the United States Golf Association (USGA) that its Scandium driver is compliant with the USGA’s Rules Of Golf.
"The USGA ruling and the arrival of our new products for the PGA show provide for a great start to 2006", stated E21 President and CEO, Dr. Nataliya Hearn. "Over the next several weeks we will be sending product to our sales representatives in preparation for the spring buying season. We are also in the process of filling initial pre-orders and sending samples to several other golf companies and to several PGA Tour professionals. As Scandium is an extremely difficult material to work with I commend our product engineers, designers and manufacture for their efforts to get our driver completed. We have spent considerable time and resources establishing an exclusive and proprietary production path for our driver".
The Scandium driver technology represents a significant departure from the prevailing titanium driver construction technology, and offers balanced moments of inertia and an unprecedented sweet spot. This results in very tight dispersion even for an off center shots and a notable increase in distance. One player called it "Control You Can Feel, Distance You Can Seeâ?¢.
The driver market in the USA, valued at over $1 billion in annually, represents close to 50% of all golf equipment sales. Even with the increase in titanium alloy raw material costs of about $20/lbs, it is believed that hundreds of thousands of pounds of titanium is converted to driver clubs every month. At these high prices and with the added benefits of Scandium’s performance enhancing features, E21 expects to be in a position to manufacture components for other OEM and license component manufacturers to work with its alloys.
