ORLANDO (Jan. 4, 2006) – Shingle Creek Golf Club in Orlando continues to establish itself as one of the best new courses in the nation, adding yet another national honor to its growing list of accolades as it receives the nod from Golf Shop magazine (formerly Golf World Business) as one of the top 100 golf shops in the U.S. for 2006.
The Top 100 Golf Shop designation from Golf Shop magazine is the fourth award the two-year-old course has received in less than a year. In June 2005, Shingle Creek was named a "Top 40 Best New Course" by Golfweek magazine, followed a month later being named one of the "Top Ten Toughest Courses" by the Orlando Business Journal and finally, last Fall, received the prestigious "Greens of Distinction" by Corporate Incentive Travel magazine.
"Receiving such acclaim, particularly from a golf publication as well-respected as Golf Shop is quite an honor," says Dave Scott, Director of Golf at Shingle Creek Golf Club. "This has been a team effort on behalf of our entire staff and I’m so proud of them."
According to Peter Finch, Golf Shop magazine’s editorial director, Shingle Creek Golf Club’s pro shop was selected based on three criteria: the shop’s financial strength, merchandising ability and marketing and promotions creativity.
Shingle Creek Golf Club is located at 9939 Universal Blvd., just off exit 2 of the Bee Line Expressway (S.R. 528). The David Harman designed course features undulating fairways and interconnecting waterways bordered by the natural backdrop of dense oaks and pines along historic Shingle Creek.
Shingle Creek Golf Club features a state-of-the-art practice facility, the Brad Brewer Golf Academy, a world-class clubhouse, golf carts with UpLink GPS yardage system, complimentary valet parking, full-service golf shop, and club and shoe rentals.
On Sept. 30, 2006, just in time for its third anniversary, Rosen Shingle Creek is scheduled to open a 1,500-room luxury hotel that will include 250,000 square feet of state-of-the-art ballroom and meeting facilities.
