Top golfer Miguel Angel Jimeï??nez is to officially open Spain’s latest top-class gourmet restaurant.

‘La Hacienda’ is the new eaterie at the luxury Hacienda del Alamo Golf Resort near Fuente Alamo, Murcia, and the Ryder Cup player will cut the ribbon at a special ceremony next Thursday (January 12th).

With seating for more than 50 people in a courtyard dining room and upstairs VIP room, the restaurant is a stunning design that mixes traditional stone walls and beamed ceilings with striking modern architecture and romantic lighting.

It is being operated by an experienced team of Spanish restaurateurs who already have several highly successful eateries in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada in Andalucia.

"We hope this will be the new number one restaurant experience across the entire region," said Hacienda del Alamo´s commercial director Rafael Ruiz.

"It will serve the finest Spanish food and wine using local produce, local chefs and local recipes."

‘La Hacienda’ is just one of several exciting new developments which will help ensure the luxury complex enters 2006 on a high.

Hacienda del Alamo has made great strides over the last 12 months on its way to being hailed "the New Number One in Spain" and that work looks certain to continue as the resort begins its most exciting year to date.

The foundations of the new clubhouse, due to open in two years time, have begun to rise high over the first tee to give commanding views over the Championship course and the mountains in the distance.

Work is also continuing at a great pace to create a grand new entrance at the front of Hacienda del Alamo and the resort will soon be more accessible to everyone thanks to the building of the new Cartagena Vera motorway.

Ruiz added: "It has been a very exciting last 12 months and everyone can see the progress that has been made.

"More and more people are discovering Hacienda all the time and these latest developments will only help endorse the resort’s growing reputation."

Miguel Angel Jimeï??nez, who represents Hacienda del Alamo on the European Tour, is one of Europe’s leading golfers and last season won the Omega Hong Kong Open and Wales Open.

Billy Sim, director of golf at Hacienda del Alamo, commented: "We are very pleased that Miguel Angel will be performing the official opening ceremony.

"He is associated not only with golf but with Spain and is well known as a tremendous authority on food and drink.

"I know he will want to check out the restaurant’s superb wine cellar and cigars as well as giving us his expert opinion as a gourmet."

The following day, Friday January 13th, Jimeï??nez will play the course with a group of media and VIPs.

The last time he played Hacienda del Alamo’s stunning 7,400-yard course he shattered the record with a stunning five-under-par round of 67 that included seven birdies.

Large progress has been made on the building projects in and around Hacienda del Alamo in recent weeks and they will all help to highlight the five-star complex’s vast potential when completed.

As well as the special opening of ‘La Hacienda’ restaurant, an English-style inn, a function area, shop and café in the administration building are also being prepared for opening early in 2006.

The roadwork close to the resort is also impressive. The new Cartagena Vera motorway will link Hacienda more closely with Cartagena and the beaches of Mazarroï??n while the Alhama-Campo de Cartagena dual carriageway, on which work will begin shortly, will ensure travel times to and from Murcia city and San Javier airport are dramatically reduced.

With the construction of the resort hotel and spa plus work on a second Dave Thomas-designed championship golf course due to begin early this year, there is much to look forward at Hacienda for 2006.

The foundations are being laid for an exciting future.
