PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The Northern California Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association has named Frank LaRosa as Media Representative of the Year. LaRosa, president of LaRosa and Associates in Sacramento, Calif., was recognized for his continuing contributions to the NCPGA at the 2005 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony held recently at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in Pebble Beach, Calif. More than 330 PGA Professionals and special guests attended.
A marketing and advertising expert, LaRosa also represents clients in the golf industry. He is a feature writer for the Northern California Golf Guide published by Sacramento Magazine, a monthly golf columnist for Senior Magazine and senior writer for California Golf and Lifestyle Magazine.
"My involvement with The PGA has been gratifying," LaRosa said. "Working with people I respect while doing something I enjoy is like making back to back birdies."
LaRosa has contributed his expertise at a variety of NCPGA Section events. He has also provided voiceover and production support to the NCPGA, often being tagged as "the voice of the NCPGA." Due in great part to LaRosa’s involvement, the 2005 Play Golf America Day at Haggin Oaks GC (Sacramento, Calif.) was a huge success, attracting more than 2,000 new and returning golfers. He has also volunteered at numerous golf consumer shows and at PGA community-based events including the Saving Strokes Clinic designed for golfers with disabilities. LaRosa has been an ongoing supporter of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, and serves as a counselor for the Boy Scouts.
"Words cannot express our appreciation for all that Frank has done for our association," said Honorary President Mike Mazzaferri. "The award that he’s received serves as a symbol of our deep respect and gratitude."
The Northern California Section of the PGA and its 1,150 members and apprentices are committed to growing the game of golf and are active supporters of Play Golf America and its initiatives designed for new and returning golfers.
