BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 13, 2006) – Nike Golf’s presence on the PGA Tour continues to multiply. The fast-growing golf company is proud to announce that Chad Campbell, a four-year member of the PGA Tour, has joined the Nike Golf Tour Staff.
Campbell, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour and member of the 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup team, has entered an exclusive multi-year relationship with Nike Golf that includes clubs, ball, glove, bag, footwear, apparel, headwear and accessories. To kick off his new relationship with Nike Golf, Campbell will be playing with the award-winning SasQuatch Driver as well as the Pro Combo Irons beginning this week. Ranked 20th on the PGA Tour’s 2005 money list, Campbell also will sport Nike Golf apparel as well as the SP-6 footwear.
"Chad is a great addition to our staff," said Kel Devlin, Global Sports Marketing Director for Nike Golf. "He is a player who knows what he wants based on feel. We asked him what his needs are to compete at the highest level and he liked what we delivered. These athletes know that we listen to their needs first and accommodate them based on their needs, instead of coercing them into product that makes them uncomfortable. It’s all about providing our athletes with products that help them to perform at their very best."
Being that he is a top PGA Tour player with exempt status through 2006, Campbell had the luxury of spending his 2005 season exploring and shopping golf equipment. After seeing fellow Texan Justin Leonard win two PGA Tour events soon after switching to Nike Golf equipment early in the year, Campbell quickly became intrigued.
Campbell, who doesn’t change equipment very often, visited Nike Golf’s Ft. Worth facility and began experimenting. After testing the Pro Combo irons, he was pleased with the performance and played with a set last season. Campbell also tested the new SasQuatch Driver and was highly impressed with the results.
"I’m very excited to be joining a company that truly cares about its athletes. Everything they do in product development is done with us athletes in mind," said Campbell. "I’m very impressed with the quality of Nike Golf’s equipment, footwear, balls and apparel. I look forward to my 2006 season as a Nike Golf staff member. I’m proud to be a part of the Nike Golf team."
