MARIETTA, Ga. – The Georgia State Golf Association is pleased to welcome BMW of North America, Inc., as a Patron of Golf for 2006. The GSGA Patrons of Golf program is a special arrangement with select corporate partners for support of the GSGA’s programs and services for its Member Clubs and golfers in Georgia.
The Patron arrangement includes advertising in Golf Georgia, the membership magazine of the GSGA, sponsorship of the Scholars’ Luncheon of the Georgia State Golf Foundation and support of the various activities of the Association.
Shannon Bower, publisher of Golf Georgia, was instrumental in the blending together of the various parts of the Patron package. BMW will advertise in each of the six issues during the year with a two-page department item called "Scholars Spotlight." In each issue, two current or former winners of a Yates or Moncrief Scholarship will be profiled.
The annual Scholars’ Luncheon is a gathering where new and existing scholars in both programs are recognized. Family members of the scholars are also in attendance, along with Trustees of the Foundation and members of the GSGA Executive Committee.
The BMW logo will be displayed on all GSGA printed material, the web site and in a special Patron advertisement in Golf Georgia. BMW representatives will be invited to attend various meetings, luncheons and dinners hosted during the year by the GSGA and be recognized for their support of amateur golf.
Other GSGA Patrons of Golf are the Sea Island Company and SunTrust Bank.
Founded in 1914, the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) received its official charter on June 24, 1924. Since that date, the GSGA has grown to one of the largest state amateur golf associations in the country. Today, GSGA conducts 18 statewide competitions for men and women of all age groups, four interstate matches and 17 USGA qualifying events each year. Other services include computerized handicapping, course rating and measuring, a summer-long junior sectional competitions program, award-winning Golf Georgia magazine and two college scholarship programs. GSGA has over 360 member clubs and over 85,000 individual members, with its ultimate goal being to promote and preserve amateur golf in the state of Georgia.
