SCHAUMBURG, Illinois (January 2006) – For the first time, the popular Nickent Golf company has selected Nippon Shaft to provide a proprietary mid-weight steel shaft as the stock model for Nickent’s new 3DX Pro Series irons.
The stock steel shaft will be Nippon Shaft’s N.S. Pro 1180GH, designed specifically for the 3DX Pro Series. The 3DX Pro Series is aimed at tournament players and low-handicap amateurs, according to Hiroyuki Fukuda, head of sales and marketing for Nippon Shaft USA.
"We are very happy to offer Nippon products in our new 3DX Pro Iron set, as well as in our new 3DX DC series of hybrids," said John Claffey, Nickent Golf’s director of marketing. "Nippon makes a world-class shaft and it is a very good fit with our products and our clientele." Nippon also is providing the stock steel shaft for Nickent’s hybrid clubs.
Nippon Shaft’s Fukuda said his company also is pleased with its growing relationship with Nickent Golf.
"Nippon Shaft is excited and honored to have been chosen by Nickent Golf to provide our shafts as stock items in the 3DX Pro Series irons," Fukuda said. "As a club designer and manufactuer, Nickent Golf adheres to the highest standard of excellence and Nippon Shaft is pleased to provide Nickent with a steel shaft consistent with that same high standard."
The N.S. Pro 1180GH iron weighs in at 118 grams and is constant weighted in the 3-iron through pitching wedge. Although Nippon makes shafts as light as 75 to 85 grams, some low-handicap players prefer "feel" of a slightly heavier shaft, Fukuda said.
The difference between Nippon and other mid-weight steel shafts is that Nippon Shafts are 100 percent made in a state-of-the-art Japanese factory using unique proprietary materials and a specialized heat-treatment process, Fukuda said. The manufacturing process is overseen by a highly-trained and veteran staff that operates according to the highest manufacturing standards in the world.
"Nippon Shaft is better because it provides golfers with better overall control: superior distance control, superior trajectory control, and superior shot dispersion control," Fukuda said. "Because Nippon Shaft makes good shafts, the ball goes where you want it to go."
Nippon Shaft has been providing its renowned steel and graphite shafts to Nickent Golf on a custom basis since 2005. Consumers may order the Nippon Shaft N.S. Pro 950GH steel shaft and/or Nippon’s graphite N.S. Pro GT600 at no extra charge.
Nippon Shaft is the No. 1-selling steel shaft in Asia with more than 80 percent of the market and ranks No. 2 in the North America. Currently, more than 100 touring professionals worldwide use Nippon Shaft products, resulting in more than 50 victories in the last three years, Fukuda said. All shafts sold by Nippon Shaft are made in Japan in order to maintain the highest quality labor and technical expertise.
Nippon Shaft is a subsidiary of privately-held NHK, a Japanese automobile parts manufacturer based in Yokohama, Japan. Nippon Shaft’s North American headquarters is in Schaumburg, Illinois.
