As tickets go on advance sale, the popular American golfer accepts German invitation to compete for record prize money
Hamburg/Alveslohe, 18 January 2006: The new year has barely started and the promoters of the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe already have a superb announcement to make. In time for the start of advance ticket sales (from 18 January), Germany’s most loved American golfer John Daly has announced that he will be taking part in the tournament to be held on the championship course of the Gut Kaden Golf und Land Club (near Hamburg). From 27-30 July 2006, golf fans can now look forward to a spectacular game with the two times Major Champion.
Making the European continent’s most important professional golf tournament even more attractive is the increase in prize money by 300,000 euros: the Deutsche Bank Players’ Championship of Europe now draws the world’s golfing elite with the sum of â?å 3.6 million – the highest prize money sum ever to have been offered at a German sports event. The winner of the tournament can take home a prize money check to the amount of 600,000 euros, and even the player placed last after completion of the weekend’s final rounds can look forward to almost 7,000 euros’ prize money.
