Leading spike manufacturer celebrating 75th anniversary with introduction of Lady Stinger

MARLBOROUGH, MA —CHAMP, a division of MacNeill Engineering, announced that the company plans to highlight its new Lady Scorpion Stingerâ?¢ spike design and retail promotional partnerships with Sharpie and Zero Friction at the upcoming PGA Show in Orlando, January 26 – 29, 2006.

"CHAMP has attended the PGA Show for decades," said Harris MacNeill, CEO of MacNeill Engineering Company, manufacturer and distributor of CHAMP. "This year the show will be especially meaningful for our employees and customers as we celebrate our 75th year."

The Lady Scorpion Stinger is designed for the fast-growing female golf market. Addressing both performance and fashion, the Lady Stinger offers superior traction and durability along with a softer material for comfort. And combined with its pink and blue color scheme, the Lady Stinger will give a fashionable splash to every golfer’s sole.

Designed through years of research and feedback from golfers, the Stinger line provides lasting comfort without sacrificing traction. Stinger golf spikes are green-friendly, easy to clean, and equipped with a Visible Wear Indicator, to let golfers know exactly when to change their cleats.

CHAMP is also reinforcing its 75th anniversary with a pair of golfer-friendly retail promotions. For a limited time, specially marked packages of CHAMP Stingers will include five free Zero Friction golf tees or a Sharpie mini-pen. Sharpie has long been known as the marker of choice for golfers and Zero Friction tees out-perform all other "alternative performance" tees on the market.

For 75 years, MacNeill Engineering/CHAMP has been at the forefront of more than 30 technological developments in the golf equipment industry, including the world’s first locking spike in 1947. Since its founding in 1931 in Waltham, Mass., MacNeill Engineering/CHAMP has become the world leader in the sport cleat industry, having produced cleats for World Series and World Cup champions, Super Bowl winners, Olympic gold medalists and countless major golf champions. Today, the company specializes in the design and manufacture of both metal and soft golf spikes, offering the most complete line of innovative spikes in the world, including the CHAMP Stingerâ?¢, Pro Stinger â?¢, and ScorpionSpikes ®. While golf technology has changed dramatically over the last 75 years, a constant source of engineering and manufacturing expertise has been MacNeill Engineering/CHAMP, and the company shows no signs of slowing down.
