Green Friendly Golf Company Brings "Essential Etiquette" Back to Golf

Providence, RI, January 2, 2006 – It’s not often that a Rhode Island company attracts the attention of the worldwide golf industry, but that’s exactly what The Green Friendly Golf Company accomplished in 2005, thanks to some evolutionary product development and the debut of the Green Friendly Belt.

The Green Friendly Golf Belt is the world’s first golf belt to combine fashion and function. The quality leather belt has a stylish and precision-engineered divot tool and ball marker built right into its tip, combining a beautiful look with two of the key accessories a golfer needs for success on the green. In addition to the original Classic Men’s Line of croc-embossed belts, the Ladies Signature Line, which features six colorful and fashionable belts, will be launched at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando (January 26th to 29th, 2006).

No more fumbling for a divot tool or ball marker in your pocket, because now, "the tool is in the tipâ?¢," where it is always easily accessible. The evolutionary, one-of-a-kind divot tool is the only purposely-designed divot replacement tool on the market today that is guaranteed to leave the green a healthier place. The divot tool’s short forks do not penetrate below the green’s root system, helping prevent the grass from being damaged.

The Green Friendly Golf Belt is made from 100% full-grain leather and is double stitched for years of wear. The high-polish nickel finish on the buckle and divot tool is both stylish and rust resistant. The belt can be easily personalized with a laser engraved name, logo or slogan.

Rick Schad, a lifelong golfer and graphic designer, originally conceived the Green Friendly Golf Belt. Schad was determined to find a better solution to repairing ball-marks on the green. Together with partners Stephen Walsh and Akim Msumba, the three established the Green Friendly Golf Company, which currently has plans to design and manufacture a range of golf accessories that will not only improve the golfing experience, but will also bring "essential etiquette" back to the game of golf.

"Players will appreciate the convenience of always having a ball marker and divot tool at their fingertips, and golf courses will appreciate the improved quality of the greens and resulting lower maintenance," says Rick Schad. "The Green Friendly Golf Belt is the first of a series of essential golf accessories to be offered by the company." Schad also says "nobody should lose a tournament or important match because their ball had to travel in the path of an unfixed ball-mark."

The Green Friendly Golf Belt was a featured accessory product at the 2005 PGA Merchandise Show in Las Vegas, which was attended by the golf industry’s top manufacturers. The belt was individually recognized at the show for its beauty and style, and for its ability to help preserve the condition of golf course greens.
