FST is proud to become a sponsor of the Gold Crown Foundation’s Junior Golf program in providing fun and educational golf opportunities for girls and boys ages 5 to 18.

The Gold Crown Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation founded in 1986 by former NBA great Bill Hanzlik and Colorado business leader Ray Baker. The organization’s mission is to provide opportunities and "Educate Youth and Community through Sports and Enrichment Programs." As the organization continues to grow, the Gold Crown Foundation anticipates providing more than 27,000 opportunities in golf, volleyball, basketball, and baseball for girls and boys with its roster of programs in 2006.

The Gold Crown Foundation’s Junior Golf segment employs a unique system to teach the game of golf. In the PALS (Players Acquiring Life Skills) method, a golf professional (including University of Colorado at Boulder interim men’s head golf coach, Brad Neher) provides instruction for every player at every event, at no additional cost. This allows each player the rare opportunity to get hands-on support from the best the game of golf has to offer. While playing in a fun and relaxed environment, players will learn about the rules and traditions of golf, as well as life skills like teamwork, sportsmanship, honesty, integrity, cooperation, respect, confidence, and self-esteem. The target student-to-instructor ratio for the program is 7:1, and the instructors are all PGA professionals with proven success in working with young players. The foundation spearheads nine after school classes for youth throughout the Denver metro area, Colorado front-range, and Rocky Mountain region. In 2005 the Junior Golf division served over 4,200 kids in its competitive and educational programs, and it anticipates a 10%-15% growth again this year.

FST is excited to become involved with this superb organization in its quest to enrich children’s lives and serve communities around Colorado.
