Builds on Golfers’ Success with Original, Advanced-Technology Models
(RIDGEFIELD, Connecticut) – Heavy Putter – maker of TOUR-proven putters with a revolutionary weighting system that automatically improves the putting stroke and reduces putts per round — will introduce its new Matte Series putters at the PGA Merchandise Show (booth 3507), January 26-29, 2006 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
The new Heavy Putter Matte Series boasts the company’s original, patented weighting technology that helped Troy Matteson catapult from 110th to 8th in putting and a No.1 ranking on the 2005 Nationwide TOUR, earning him a 2006 PGA Tour card.
Due to the Heavy Putter’s dramatic rise in popularity since being introduced a year ago, cost-saving production efficiencies have been realized and passed along to retailers and consumers. The MSRP of the new Matte Series is $229, including an adjustable tip-weight kit. A blade model (Matte Series A-3) and mallet model (Matte Series B-3), with a heel-mounted, double-bend shaft, will be the first introduced, available to consumers in April.
The new Matte Series head is finished in a dark gray and is combined with a satin finished shaft and custom grip.
"We are excited that golfers are swearing by Heavy Putter’s advanced technology due to their better scores," says Stephen Boccieri, inventor, founder and president of Heavy Putter. "Now, with the Matte Series, it’s easier than ever for golfers to simply pick up a Heavy Putter and improve their scores."
Given the overall weight of the Heavy Putter, the body instinctively knows to activate its larger more stable muscles to perform the putting stroke, resulting in a more consistent path for precise direction and improved distance control.
An additional, 250-gram Weight Management System (WMS) hidden in the grip section raises the Heavy Putter’s balance point 75 percent further up the shaft than conventional putters, which makes the center of balance of the golfer and the putter closer together. Narrowing the distance between the center of balance of the golfer and the putter increases the putter’s stability throughout the stroke.
The adjustable tip weights allow individuals to fine tune the balance point for an optimal and consistent release through impact. The perimeter weighting and increased mass in the head prevents the putter from twisting on off-center hits, making the Heavy Putter one of the most forgiving putters in the world.
