January 24, 2006 Bedford, NH… Bentley Kinetics, a leader in kinetic motion analysis, understands that improving a golf swing has everything to do with objectively improving human motion. This is why the firm has signed an exclusive agreement with Welch-e Technologies, the market leader in the development and implementation of software applications for the measurement and analysis of human motion, to use its Zenolinkâ?¢ technology. Zenolink has been used in the training of many top athletes and sports teams and provides the biomechanical validity behind Bentley Kinetics’ K-VESTâ?¢ product. The K-VEST is a completely wireless golf instructional system that measures and analyzes true biomechanical movements including pelvic rotation, joint motion and wrist hinge."
Importance of Accurate Biomechanical Measurements
"Our Zenolink Golf application has been used for over 15 years by doctors, therapists and trainers who have a working knowledge of biomechanics and kinesiology to successfully treat or train their golfing clients. However, until now, it has never been used in a commercial teaching application," says Chris Welch, one of the nation’s leading sports biomechanists and President of Welch-e Technologies. "I am confident that Zenolink technology makes K-VEST the only wireless technology to provide its users real-time performance feedback based on accurate and crucial diagnostic information."
Zenolink Golf (www.golf-zenolink.com) is a three-dimensional (3-D) motion analysis technology that measures golf swing biomechanics and objectively quantifies performance. It categorizes golf swing biomechanics into four primary areas of data – kinetic link, stability, muscular loading and club dynamics. In each category, test results are presented in both numerical and graphical format.
How K-VESTâ?¢ Uses Biomechanical Data to Perfect its Users’ Golf Swings
The K-Vest, a lightweight neoprene garment, encloses three strategically placed wireless sensors that can measure a golfer’s hip, shoulder, and hand motion during a golf swing. This motion is collected at 120 frames per second, or about 4x faster than standard video. The data from each sensor is sent via wireless channels directly to Bentley Kinetics’ proprietary software, Kinesyncâ?¢, where Welch-e Technologies’ Zenolink Golf performs an in-depth biomechanical analysis. The resulting data is displayed for immediate analysis and feedback in real-time on a wireless laptop, providing the golfer with a simple 3-D analysis of their motion.
"Our main objective is to accurately measure and analyze human motion based on sound biomechanical data," says Michael Bentley, Chief Technological Officer of Bentley Kinetics. "Welch-e Technologies has allowed us to validate our system’s performance and stand behind it with complete confidence."
The K-Vestâ?¢ and K-Systemâ?¢ will be introduced by Bentley Kinetics at the 2006 PGA Merchandise Show being held at the Orlando County Convention Center in Orlando, FL from January 26th to the 29th. Both can be purchased at www.k-vest.com or via golf professionals and training facilities utilizing the technology to train their students.
