Championship layout slated for 2008 opening in California’s Central Valley
DINUBA, Calif., Jan. 23, 2006 – The City Council of Dinuba, Calif., recently announced its selection of KemperSports to serve as construction and operations manager for the area’s first-ever 18-hole championship golf course, named Ridge Creek Golf Club.
The upscale daily-fee layout, located approximately 30 miles south of Fresno, will take advantage of California’s scenic Central Valley mountain ranges, abundant wildlife, and native vegetation while strategically incorporating natural grasses and bunkers to produce a heathland golf experience, as found in the classic courses of England.
Design of Ridge Creek Golf Club is being steered by Scottsdale, Ariz.-based John Fought Design. The par 72 will measure more than 7,000 yards with multiple sets of tees to encourage play from various ages and skill levels. Fought, a two-time winner on the PGA TOUR and former U.S. Amateur champion, brings vast experience in golf course design and restoration nationwide as well as an accomplished career in professional golf to the Dinuba project. He recently served as lead designer during the notable renovation of Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.
"We have the optimal team in place to establish Dinuba as a golfing community," said Ed Todd, Dinuba city manager. "In conjunction with KemperSports’ management team, we plan to create a public golf experience that enhances our city’s recreational image and attracts players spanning the San Joaquin Valley."
Construction of Ridge Creek Golf Club is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2006. A clubhouse, featuring a golf shop and restaurant, will also be constructed adjacent to a state-of-the-art 360-degree practice facility. KemperSports will assume operations management upon the course’s opening in 2008.
The addition of Ridge Creek augments KemperSports’ steady expansion of signature properties in the West. Among the company’s existing collection of California-based golf facilities are Black Gold Golf Club (Yorba Linda), Desert Willow Golf Resort (Palm Desert), Harding Park (San Francisco), and the newly opened Monarch Dunes Golf Club (Nipomo).
