Follows in Similar Successful Footsteps of Fellow Nike Golf Tour Members
BEAVERTON, Ore. (January 23, 2006) – Chad Campbell has become the latest PGA Tour player to enjoy immediate success after joining Nike Golf’s talented roster of Tour Staff members. In just his second week as a Nike Golf Tour Staff member, Campbell posted a three-stroke victory at last week’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in Palm Desert, California. This followed just a week after his Nike Golf debut where he recorded a second-place finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
This win, his first since the 2004 Bay Hill Invitational, adds him to a distinguished list of PGA Tour players to benefit triumphantly from joining the Nike Golf Tour team. In fact, it mirrors the start to the 2005 PGA Tour season when Justin Leonard signed with Nike Golf and went on to win his second PGA Tour event – also at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
Last year, Nike Golf Tour Staff accumulated 11 PGA Tour victories and 34 titles worldwide. Of those wins, Leonard won within 11 days of his switch to Nike Golf equipment, Paul Casey within 3 months, K.J. Choi within 4 months, and Carl Pettersson recorded his first PGA Tour win immediately after switching to the new SasQuatch driver.
Campbell made his first appearance two weeks ago as a swoosh athlete. Playing with the new SasQuatch Driver, its new geometry was the only adjustment Campbell’s game needed. Since switching to the SasQuatch, Campbell’s game has been on fire with a runner-up finish and victory, respectively.
Also attributing to Campbell’s recent success was his solid iron play. Last week, using Nike Golf’s Pro Combo irons, Campbell averaged 75.6% in greens in regulation. Campbell, who started playing with Nike Golf’s Pro Combo irons in 2005 prior to becoming a Nike Golf tour staff member, also wears Nike Golf apparel, SP 6 footwear and a Dri Fit Tour glove.
Campbell’s victory is evidence that Nike Golf equipment is synonymous with success on the PGA TOUR and continues to ring loud and clear in 2006. Here’s another look at the successes after the Nike Golf switch:
