Golfers turned out in record numbers on January 21 & 22 at Orange County National Golf Center
Orlando, Fla., (January 24, 2006) – Golfweek, golf’s news leader and award-winning journal of competitive golf, announces the continued success of the world’s largest outdoor demo day and festival, Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando. In its third year, Golfest Orlando was held January 21 & 22 at Orange County National Golf Center in Winter Garden, Fla. and produced record-breaking numbers with nearly 3,000 avid golfers in attendance.
At Golfweek’s Golfest Orlando consumers were able to test-drive equipment manufacturers’ newest products and purchase golf merchandise from Edwin Watts, as well as test-drive several vehicles from presenting sponsor, Chrysler. Golfers enjoyed interactive games, an exhibit row, instructional stages, junior and women’s areas and clinics and entertainment provided Skip Kendall, David Leadbetter, Dr. Robert Winters, Dave Mobley, Peter Johncke and Suzy Whaley.
"Edwin Watts Golf was very pleased with the outcome of Golfest 2006, said Tom Hall, Edwin Watts Golf director outlet operations. "In my 25 years in golf retail I’ve never been involved with such a fun event that brings the golfer, manufactures and retailers together in such a nice casual pro-active event. With our efforts with Southern Dunes, Falcons Fire, Eagle Creek, Single Creek, Celebration, Rock Springs Ridge, Forest Lake, Royal St. Cloud Golf Links even the golf courses were pro active in helping the industry promote the game of golf."
As a result of Golfest Orlando’s success over the past three years, Golfweek is taking the show on the road and Golfest will be in 10 metro markets through out the United States this year. For more information on the additional Golfests planned for 2006, please visit www.golfest.com.
"We couldn’t be more pleased about the success of this years Golfest," said Jim Nugent, publisher. "People showed up in droves ready to try and buy new equipment and enjoy a unique golf experience. We are excited and look forward to the other nine locations this year."
