Golf’s International Stars Come Out To Play At The 2006 Ford Championship At Doral

Angel Cabrera, Darren Clarke and Tim Clark commit to play at the 2006 Ford Championship at Doral

Doral, FL – The South Florida Golf Foundation announced today that Angel Cabrera, Darren Clarke and Tim Clark will play in the 2006 Ford Championship at Doral. Cabrera, Clarke and Clark currently stand at 12th, 18th and 21st respectively on the official World Golf Rankings.

"The addition of Angel Cabrera, Darren Clarke, and Tim Clark further solidifies the 2006 Ford Championship at Doral as having one of the deepest international fields on the PGA TOUR, " said EC. "We expect to garner to several other top international players over the next few weeks leading up to the Ford Championship at Doral."

Angel Cabrera, a native of Argentina, is returning to the sight of his best finish in 2005. Cabrera shot a 67 in the final round to finish tied for tenth at the 2005 Ford Championship at Doral. Cabrera is coming off of a strong 2005 where he finished 12th in the World Golf Rankings. He was a rookie member of the Presidents Cup and won the BMW Championship on the European PGA TOUR.

Darren Clarke, from Northern Ireland, finished 2005 18th in the World Golf rankings. Clarke is coming back to the PGA TOUR with a full schedule after taking time in 2005 to help his wife through cancer treatment. Clarke’s best finish in 2005 came when he tied for second at the MCI Heritage in South Carolina. Until 2005, Clarke had a personal streak of winning an event on at least one TOUR every year since 1998.

Tim Clark, of South Africa, finished 2005 ranking 21st both in the World Golf Rankings and on the PGA TOUR money list. Clark had his best finish on the PGA TOUR when he tied for second at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Clark also scored two wins on the European PGA TOUR with victories at the South African Airways Open and the Barclays Scottish Open.
